I'm been using it mostly for recording bass guitar and vocals. This pre has lots and lots of headroom. The potentiometer goes to 11 (not kidding, it really says eleven), and with just the gain section, the sound is better. Great for both dynamics and condensers.
Awesome for DI-ing purposes. Shines with my bass guitar, because you can shape the sound all you want, and compress it to your purposes (if you want to). Very quiet noise wise. You can bypass both the EQ and the compressor.
EQ is clean and musical, with three bands at 80Hz, 1.8kHz and 8kHz.
The compressor is the place where the sound gets coloured. It's a bit aggressive, so you need to be very careful not to overdo it. For something (like my bass guitar), I like this sound.
All and all, this is a great little unit, very usable for a lot of applications.
